It was Kingdom’s vision to benefit from its position in the Islamic world, and in implementation of the initiative to establish a Halal Centre to grant the necessary licenses and certificates within the implementation plan of the National Transformation Program.
Solution
Establishment a company (Halal) to be an executive and investment arm of the Food and Drug Authority responsible for inspection, approval, and standardization Halal product standards in the Kingdom.
Approach
Studying the current situation and conducting local and international benchmarking. Determining the strategic direction, Establishing the company, Operations development, including defining the relationship between the company and the concerned government agencies. Defining and building the business model and operational model of the company.
Impact
More than 190 food establishments have been issued a halal certificate. In addition, 75 entities obtained certificates of issuance in 43 countries around the world, and more than 59,000 certificates were issued. The Saudi Halal Centre is working on (13) initiatives in the national strategy in partnership with the relevant authorities.
